Max Life Insurance has been conducting many activities for young children under its i-genius program and as a part of it they have been conducting a national level singing competition for the young talents to give them a chance to stand out of those hundred thousand voices throughout the country. This program of i-genius is known as the Young Singing Stars which started last year in 2014 and after the grand success of Season-I Max life Insurance came up with the second season this year in June 2015.
The participation for i-genius Young Singing Stars Season 2 wasopen to all children from 4 years to 15 years of age in three categories: i-genius Primary- 4-7 yrs, i-genius Junior – 8 – 11 yrs and i-genius Senior – 12-15 years from all over India. The programme ran in four phases-:
- Phase 1: Online registration was opened to the participants who could register online at www.igenius.org or through physical registration forms that were available at all Max Life offices. Additionally, 600 winners received CD Hampers as consolation prizes.
Salim Merchant, a well-known name in the Music Industry as a Singer, Composer and Music Director. Shraddha Sharma, the YouTube sensation from Dehradun whose voice got millions of followers when she uploaded her first video at the age of 15.
The grand finale of the second season of Young Singing Stars took place on 10th December, 2015 at Vivanta by Taj President Hotel in Mumbai. The jury for the same were Mr. Salim Merchant, Ms. Shraddha Sharma and Mr. Devraj Sanyal, Managing Director – Universal Music Group and EMI South Asia.
The atmosphere was filled with Music and everyone sitting in the audience enjoyed the performances of all the 10 finalists who sang some outstanding Bollywood hits, out of everyone there was one 12 year girl Pranjali Sinha who sang her self-composed song. Composing your own song at the age of 12 itself shows how talented the kids are in this country and such contests are a great platform for them which take them towards their dreams.
With two rounds of performances from the finalists, the audience also got the witness the Live performances from the Jury Shraddha Sharma and Salim Merchant.
The performance of every finalist was just amazing and it was difficult for the judges as well to decide the final winners. After tallying the performances on the basis of two rounds the judges declared Tannishtha Puri as the winner of Junior Category and Maithili Thakur as the winner of Senior Category. Tannishtha’s voice was sweet and she was very confident while performing and Maithili is a great classical singer, her performances made everyone to give her a standing ovation. On the other hand I also felt sad that the format of the contest allowed only one winner, every finalist was a great singer and it was a proud moment for everyone in that audience that we live in such a country where the kids are so talented.
